The Jacobite Steam train route from Fort William to Mallaig has been described as the “greatest railway journey in the world” and has been immortalised forever on the silver screen in the Harry Potter films. The view is so worth the climb on a clear and dry day.
Climbing Ben Nevis is a real achievement but it’s not for the under-prepared, you need to have good fitness levels and footwear and go prepared with water and sunscreen and layerable clothes as it can be a bit chillier at the summit.
Always remember to make sure your phone is fully charged and you let someone know if you’re heading up. The climb and return down the mountain will take a full day.
